Chapter 114 Butterfly House
Chapter 114 Butterfly House
Just as Tanjiro and Nezuko pushed open the wooden door of the Butterfly Mansion, a figure rushed straight toward the door.
"Inosuke!"
Tanjiro recognized him at a glance, and a joyful smile appeared on his face. But then he saw Inosuke showing no sign of slowing down, still charging towards him as if he wanted to smash through any obstacle.
"Hahaha! Tanjiro! Let's have a showdown—wait…"
Upon seeing Tanjiro, Inosuke immediately shouted excitedly, waving his bandaged arm, clearly wanting to have a match with his old friend.
But just as he was about to rush up to him, his gaze inadvertently swept over Tanjiro's appearance, and he suddenly froze, but his steps showed no intention of stopping.
Tanjiro looked at Inosuke's stunned expression and felt the strong wind rushing towards him, and he knew in his heart that something was wrong.
He immediately stepped to the side to block Inosuke, raising his hands high in an attempt to stop him, while shouting in alarm.
"Stop it! Inosuke!"
"Bang—!"
A dull thud echoed in the courtyard, like two giant rocks colliding.
Tanjiro felt a tingling sensation in his chest, and was forced back several steps by Inosuke's unreasonable force.
Finally, she and Inosuke crashed heavily to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
The sudden loud noise startled Mi Douzi so much that he instinctively closed his eyes.
When she opened her eyes again, she saw her brother and Inosuke lying on the ground. Inosuke had a small bump on his head and his eyes were glazed over.
"Brother, are you alright?"
She quickly stepped forward, cautiously inquired, and reached out to help Tanjiro up.
Before Tanjiro could answer, a stern female voice, tinged with anger, suddenly came from the courtyard.
"Take him back immediately! He's so badly injured and still won't behave."
Midouzi looked up at the sound and saw a girl in dark blue standing in the middle of the courtyard, hands on her hips, brows furrowed, angrily giving orders to three girls in white medical uniforms behind her.
"yes!"
The three girls immediately responded in unison, and quickly stepped forward to carefully help Inosuke, who was lying on the ground, seeing stars and still not recovered.
Tanjiro rubbed his head, which was throbbing from the impact. The small bump on his forehead, which had appeared earlier, had visibly disappeared thanks to the rapid healing power of his demonic energy.
He stood up, dusted himself off, and still wore a gentle smile, showing no sign of blaming Inosuke.
"You two must be Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado, right?"
The girl in the dark blue dress walked quickly to the brother and sister, looked them over, softened her tone, and asked.
"Hello, yes."
Midouzi was the first to come to her senses, and with a polite smile on her face, she introduced herself gently.
"This is my older brother, Tanjiro Kamado. I am Nezuko Kamado. Sorry to bother you."
"Hello, I'm Aoi, a medical worker from the Butterfly Mansion."
The girl politely returned the greeting and introduced herself.
Her gaze quickly fell on Tanjiro, a clear look of surprise flashing in her eyes, and she couldn't help but look him up and down.
Tanjiro noticed Aoi's curious yet inquisitive gaze, subconsciously touched the flame demon mark on his forehead, nodded somewhat embarrassedly, and whispered.
"Hello, thank you for your help."
Aoi looked at Tanjiro's demonic features, which were clearly different from those of an ordinary person—dark red hair and a clear demonic mark on his forehead.
This finally made her believe that the message the raven had sent earlier was actually true.
"So there really are demons that can overcome sunlight..."
Aoi couldn't help but exclaim, her tone full of curiosity.
Seeing that Aoi showed no hostility, Mizuko felt the last weight lifted from her heart and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
It seems my brother's identity has been accepted here; he's really alright.
She turned to look at the courtyard, her gaze sweeping over the white wash bandages drying on the bamboo poles, and then she thought of Inosuke, who had just been carried away.
The image of that boy who always wore a yellow haori, who was prone to crying but was very reliable, involuntarily appeared in my mind.
"Oh, right."
After hesitating for a moment, Midouzi couldn't help but ask.
"Is there a team member here named Zenitsu Agatsuma? He went on a mission with us before. I wonder how he is doing now."
Ever since the battle at Spider Mountain, she has been very worried about Zenitsu's safety.
From Spider Mountain to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, he was preoccupied with his brother's affairs the whole way.
There was simply no time to inquire about Zenitsu and Inosuke.
Now that things have finally settled down, this worry immediately welled up in my heart.
Upon hearing the name "Zenitsu Agatsuma," Aoi immediately showed a knowing expression, shook her head helplessly, and sighed softly.
Seeing Aoi's appearance, Mizuko's heart jumped into her throat. She quickly stepped forward, her voice filled with urgency.
"Zenitsu...did something happen to him?"
She was terrified of hearing the worst possible outcome.
Seeing that Midouzi's face was pale with nervousness, Kui suddenly realized that the blond boy had been refusing to cooperate properly.
She quickly reassured him, "Don't worry, he's alright!"
Upon hearing the words "It's alright," Midouzi's tense body instantly relaxed, and she let out a long sigh of relief.
But then she noticed the strange expression on Kui's face, and a question arose in her mind. She couldn't help but ask.
"That……?"
Kui hesitated for a moment, then sighed and stepped aside to make way for a path behind her.
"Sigh, it's hard to explain. Come and see for yourself, you'll understand."
Tanjiro and Nezuko exchanged a glance, both seeing confusion in each other's eyes.
They looked in the direction Kui pointed and saw a hospital room by the window at the end of the path. The door and window were tightly closed, and they could vaguely hear indistinct sounds coming from inside.
The brother and sister followed Kui toward the ward, and the closer they got, the clearer the sounds inside became.
It was a weak, listless male voice, tinged with grievance and obsession, repeating the same sentence over and over again.
"Mizuko sauce...Mizuko sauce...Can anyone tell me where Mizuko sauce is?"
The voice was lingering and poignant, like a summoning of a spirit, filled with deep sorrow, enough to give anyone goosebumps.
Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Aoi stood frozen at the door of the ward, exchanging bewildered glances, an awkward silence hanging in the air.
Aoi helplessly shrugged and lowered her voice to say to Mizuko.
"You heard it too, right? Ever since his condition improved and he was able to speak, he's been repeating that phrase over and over. He won't eat properly, he won't take his medicine, and all he does is mutter 'Nie Douzi Jiang' all day long. No matter how we try to persuade him, it's no use."
Upon hearing this, Tanjiro couldn't help but lower his head and chuckle.
He turned to look at his little sister, Midouzi, and saw that her face was flushed red, her ears were tinged with a light pink, and her eyes were darting around, making her look a little helpless. She was extremely cute.
"Let's go, Nezuko, let's go see Zenitsu."
Tanjiro gently patted his sister's shoulder and said, suppressing a laugh.
Zenitsu's appearance was somewhat comical, but it was clear that he was genuinely worried about Nezuko.
With a blush, Mizuko nodded gently and, together with Tanjiro, slowly pushed open the wooden door to the ward.
The light in the ward was soft, and a faint medicinal fragrance filled the air.
Zenitsu Agatsuma lay on the bed, his body wrapped in thick bandages, just like Inosuke's, with only his face and two hands showing. He looked to be seriously injured.
He stared blankly at the ceiling, muttering "Nie Douzi Jiang" over and over again, his voice filled with grievance and longing.
Hearing the door open, Zenitsu stiffly turned his neck and slowly looked back at the person at the door.
When he saw Tanjiro standing at the door, a look of confusion flashed in his eyes at first, but then he recognized him and said weakly.
"Hello, Tanjiro..."
But as soon as he finished speaking, his gaze froze on the spot.
"Tanjiro!!! You!!!! How could you…"
The next second, Zenitsu's eyes widened instantly, and his previously lifeless eyes burst forth with an astonishing light, as if they had been instantly infused with boundless power.
He sat up abruptly in bed, his voice even louder than before.
"Nee-dou-zi-jiang (fermented bean paste)!!!!"
