Stealing the Pen: Kirin's Primordial Lotus

Chapter 633

Chapter 633

"What's wrong? Did you find anything?" Zhang Qiling looked at the black bear who suddenly flew away like an arrow with a puzzled look on his face. A feeling of worry arose in his heart, fearing that he might encounter an accident, so he hurriedly took a step and chased after him closely.

The black bear was extremely fast, like a gust of wind. In the blink of an eye, it rushed to a patch of grass not far ahead, then suddenly squatted down, as if it had discovered something important.

Zhang Qiling rushed to Hei Xia Zi, panting, and looked in the direction of his finger. He saw something on the ground emitting a faint silver light, barely visible under the cover of the grass.

"You should be very familiar with this thing!" Hei Xia Zi's voice was a little low. He looked up at Zhang Qiling, with a hint of solemnity in his eyes.

Zhang Qiling's expression instantly became serious. He stared intently at the broken sword fragments in Hei Xiazi's hand. It was a long sword broken into two pieces. The carving craftsmanship on the handle was very exquisite, obviously from the Zhang family.

"The Zhang family's craftsmanship." Zhang Qiling frowned tightly, and there was a hint of anger and helplessness in his voice.

Hei Xia Zi carefully wrapped the broken knife fragments with a handkerchief, as if it were an extremely precious treasure.

"It seems someone in the Zhang family has been bewitched again." Hei Xiazi stood up, put the wrapped broken sword fragments into his arms, and then turned to look at Zhang Qiling. "I wonder what these people are planning. They actually want to continue studying everything about the Zhang family."

Zhang Qiling's eyes were as sharp as torches, staring straight into the depths of the forest, as if he could penetrate the dense woods and see the enemies hidden within.

"They haven't given up yet and want to continue studying everything about the Zhang family." Zhang Qiling's voice was filled with anger, and his fists clenched unconsciously. "These people are really greedy!"

Hei Xia Zi walked up to Zhang Qiling and stood back to back with him. Both of them looked around vigilantly to prevent someone from ambushing them and shooting arrows from behind.

"What are you going to do now? Do you want to go back to the Zhang family to check on them?" Hei Xia Zi asked softly, his tone revealing his concern for Zhang Qiling.

Zhang Qiling shook his head and thought of Zhang Haike, who was full of resentment because he had arranged everything for him, and he couldn't help but shudder.

Hei Xia Zi was still puzzled. It wasn't cold out there, and considering Zhang Qiling's physical condition, he shouldn't be shivering. "What's wrong with you? Why are you still shivering?"

"It's nothing. The Zhang family has Zhang Haike looking after them, so there won't be any big problems. I'll just write a letter back and tell him later." Zhang Qiling said expressionlessly, as if this matter was insignificant to him.

However, upon hearing this, Hei Xia Zi immediately understood the real reason why Zhang Qiling was trembling. He couldn't help but burst into laughter, his laughter echoing through the empty forest. "Hahahaha! So that's why! Dumb, what can I say about you?"

Zhang Qiling's face instantly darkened. He turned around and kicked Hei Xiazi with his leg. This kick was powerful and full of anger and dissatisfaction.

Seeing this, Hei Xiazi quickly dodged Zhang Qiling's kick with ease. He kept muttering, "Ah, alas, alas! Dumb, you're being so unkind! I care about you so much, and you still hit me!"

Zhang Qiling was obviously not moved by Hei Xia Zi's words. He continued to attack, and each move was extremely fierce, trying to teach Hei Xia Zi a lesson.

Black Blind Man nimbly dodged Zhang Qiling's attacks while moving towards the outskirts of the forest. His movements were light and swift, like a nimble monkey.

The ambushers hiding in the woods watched this scene nervously. They watched Hei Xia Zi and Zhang Qi Ling retreat further and further away from them, and their hearts trembled. Had they been exposed? Otherwise, why didn't these two continue to move into the woods, but suddenly started fighting and retreated outside?

"What should we do? They ran away, should we chase them?" An ambusher said in a low voice with an anxious look on his face. He crouched down and tiptoed to the leader like a frightened rabbit, gesturing with his hands, asking about the next course of action.

The leader stood still, motionless, his eyes fixed like a hawk, as if trying to see through the dense trees to see the target that had disappeared from sight. After a long moment, he slowly shook his head and gestured for the others to retreat.

"Go back first, something's not right!" The leader's voice was low and calm. Although he might be a little anxious inside, he didn't show it. He knew that in this situation, acting impulsively would only make the situation worse.

The other ambushers, seeing the leader's gesture, though somewhat unwilling, obeyed the order and began to quietly retreat into the mountains. Their movements were very light, making almost no sound, and they blended into the surrounding environment like a group of ghosts.

The leader breathed a sigh of relief after making sure everyone was following. He pulled a small bag from his pocket, opened it, and sprinkled the contents onto the ground. It was a strong-smelling powder that immediately attracted a herd of hungry beasts.

These beasts came running from all directions, their footsteps and roars echoing in the silent mountains and forests, making people shudder. They sniffed and gnawed frantically on the ground, trampling the place where the ambushers had been squatting into a mess, leaving no trace of human presence.
