Chapter 39 Lovers Finally Get Married
Chapter 39 Lovers Finally Get Married
After the host announced Piccolo's victory, Kami turned to look at Goku, who was also looking at Kami. After exchanging a glance, Goku nodded.
The body of a god cannot come to the mortal realm; it can only appear through possession. However, "Shen" is ultimately just an ordinary human, and the god cannot unleash his full power using his body. Understanding Goku's determination to fight Piccolo, the god used his remaining ki to heal "Shen's" injuries before leaving his body.
Shen's body instantly went limp to the ground. After a moment, he woke up, looked up at his surroundings, covered his head, and ran out of the martial arts arena, exclaiming as he ran, "Ah! Where is this place?! This is terrifying!"
Meanwhile, Chi-Chi was backstage preparing with mixed feelings. She had a strange encounter with Sun Wukong when they were young; back then, Wukong was innocent and naive, and accidentally offended her, leading to a marriage agreement. Years had passed, and Chi-Chi had always remembered this promise. She trained diligently, hoping to reunite with Sun Wukong on this day and make him fulfill his promise.
Chi-Chi looked at herself in the mirror, took a deep breath, and tried to calm her nervousness and excitement. She was wearing a simple martial arts uniform, her hair tied in a high ponytail, and her eyes revealed determination and confidence. She knew that Goku was very strong, but she also believed that her efforts over the years would not be in vain. She was determined to make Goku remember their promise.
The host announced the entrance of both contestants, with Chi-Chi being the first to step onto the stage. She strode confidently onto the ring, her eyes fixed on the opposite passage, eagerly awaiting the appearance of Sun Wukong. The audience was also filled with curiosity about this mysterious female contestant, discussing her identity and strength.
Amidst the cheers of the audience, Sun Wukong stepped onto the stage. He stared blankly at Chi-Chi opposite him, completely unaware of her despite Shang Yun's prompting. Seeing Sun Wukong's reaction, Chi-Chi felt a surge of anger. She gritted her teeth and secretly vowed to make Goku remember her.
The referee stood between the two, briefly explained the rules of the match, and then announced the start of the game. Chi-Chi immediately launched an attack; her movements were agile, like a nimble cheetah, as she quickly charged towards Goku. Her fist, accompanied by a sharp whoosh, slammed towards Goku's face. Goku was startled by Chi-Chi's sudden attack and instinctively took a step back, dodging her punch.
"Why did you suddenly attack me?" Sun Wukong asked, looking puzzled.
Kiki said angrily, "You idiot, you don't even recognize me! Have you forgotten our promise?"
Sun Wukong scratched his head, even more puzzled: "Agreement? What agreement? Shang Yun just said I know you, but I don't remember."
Chi-Chi's anger intensified when she saw that Goku had actually forgotten. She launched another attack, each strike aimed at Goku's vital points. Although Goku didn't understand why Chi-Chi was so angry, he dared not be careless and began to seriously counter her attacks.
Goku nimbly dodged Chi-Chi's attacks; his speed was incredibly fast, and Chi-Chi's fists always just missed him. Seeing that her attacks were consistently ineffective, Chi-Chi grew anxious and began to increase the power and speed of her attacks, trying to defeat Goku as quickly as possible.
Sensing Chi-Chi's change, Goku began to exert his strength as well. He crouched slightly, pushed off with both feet, and leaped into the air. Chi-Chi, seeing this, also jumped up and continued her attack on Goku. The two engaged in a fierce battle in mid-air, their fists and feet clashing, producing muffled thuds.
As the battle progressed, both Chi-Chi and Goku gradually found their rhythm. Chi-Chi's attacks grew increasingly fierce, each move imbued with immense power, seemingly intent on defeating Goku. Goku, too, ceased merely dodging; he began to counterattack, his fists as hard as steel, each strike carrying a powerful impact.
Goku sidestepped Chi-Chi's flying kick, then swiftly threw a punch at her abdomen. Chi-Chi reacted quickly, blocking Goku's fist with her arm, but was still knocked back several steps by the powerful force. She regained her footing, a hint of surprise in her eyes; she hadn't expected Goku to be so strong.
"You've really become amazing!" Kiki exclaimed.
Sun Wukong laughed and said, "You're not bad either, you've managed to fight me for so long."
The two charged at each other again, engaging in an even more intense battle. Their figures moved swiftly across the ring, dazzling the audience. The spectators watched in stunned silence, cheering enthusiastically for their spectacular performance.
By this time, Goku was beginning to recall some of his past with Chi-Chi, but he was still unsure. He fought Chi-Chi while trying to remember more. Chi-Chi, on the other hand, was determined to make Goku remember their promise, and her attacks became increasingly fierce, as if she wanted to vent all her pent-up frustration.
"Who are you? Why do I feel like I've seen you somewhere before?" Sun Wukong asked.
Kiki shouted, "You idiot, it's me, Kiki! You promised to marry me when we were little!"
Sun Wukong was stunned when he heard Chi-Chi's words. He finally remembered the promise he made with Chi-Chi when they were children, and a feeling of guilt welled up in his heart. He looked at Chi-Chi, not knowing what to say.
"The bride!!!" Krillin, Bulma, and the others exclaimed in surprise, turning to look at Shang Yun. Shang Yun, however, adopted a pretentious posture, crossing his arms, looking straight ahead, and nodding slightly.
"Tch~" Seeing Shang Yun like this, the others were too lazy to cooperate with him.
"Tch, boring." Piccolo, standing on the pillar, looked down at the fight on the stage while recovering his strength. Seeing this scene, he snorted disdainfully. Knowing that he could not learn about Goku's strength through Chi-Chi, and that Goku would definitely win, he stopped paying attention to the match and closed his eyes to focus on recovering his strength.
In the instant Goku was momentarily stunned, Chi-Chi seized the opportunity. She swiftly closed in on him and unleashed a full-force attack. Goku had no time to dodge and was struck in the chest by Chi-Chi's fist, staggering back several steps. Chi-Chi, believing she had finally defeated Goku, couldn't help but feel a surge of pride.
However, Sun Wukong was not seriously injured, and he quickly regained his footing. He looked at Chi-Chi, his eyes filled with apology: "Chi-Chi, I remember now, I did promise to marry you. I'm sorry, I forgot before."
Upon hearing Sun Wukong's words, Qiqi's anger vanished instantly. A shy smile appeared on her face as she said, "It's alright, it's good that you remember now."
Looking at Chi-Chi, Sun Wukong was filled with emotion. He knew that Chi-Chi had been waiting for him all these years, and he couldn't let her down. So, he decided to stop fighting Chi-Chi and instead propose to her.
"Qiqi, since I promised to marry you, I'm proposing to you now. Will you marry me?" Sun Wukong said earnestly.
A happy smile spread across Qiqi's face, and she answered without hesitation, "I do!"
The audience erupted in cheers upon hearing Goku's proposal. They showered the newlyweds with applause and cheers. The referee, momentarily taken aback by the unexpected turn of events, quickly recovered and declared the match between Goku and Chi-Chi over, with Goku emerging victorious.
After the match, Goku and Chi-Chi walked off the stage hand in hand. Their faces were filled with happy smiles, as if nothing around them mattered. Krillin, Yamcha, and the others smiled knowingly at Goku and Chi-Chi's appearance. They were happy for Goku and wished him and Chi-Chi a happy and fulfilling life together.
The two decided to hold their wedding as soon as possible after the World Martial Arts Tournament ended and start a new life together.
