Chapter 11 Sleepwalking
Chapter 11 Sleepwalking
In Naruto's house, as night deepened, in the quiet room, Naruto and Boruto lay on the bed, tossing and turning, their minds racing, unable to fall asleep.
Boruto lay there, his thoughts caught in a deep vortex. For the past few days, he had been scrutinizing everything around him, trying to determine whether this world truly existed.
I once wondered if I was being trapped in Momoshiki Otsutsuki's genjutsu, and if this world was just an illusion created by the genjutsu.
But every bit of pain he felt, every breath he took, and the people around him seemed so real and vivid that Boruto could hardly believe it was all just an illusion.
Thinking back, it seems that I didn't see him use any ninjutsu, let alone genjutsu, during his battle with Momoshiki Otsutsuki.
Momoshiki Otsutsuki primarily uses taijutsu (body techniques), and the pair of chilling eyes on the palms of his hands are key weapons in his battles. These eyes can absorb the opponent's chakra, convert it into his own power, and return it to the opponent in a more powerful form, thus gaining a significant advantage in battle.
......
"Hey, Boruto, you're still awake?" A voice pulled Boruto out of his thoughts as he was lost in thought.
"Hmm, not yet, what's wrong?" Boruto nodded gently, his gaze shifting from the night outside the window to Naruto lying on the bed.
Naruto slowly sat up from the bed, reached out and touched the back of his head, and said to Boruto with a sigh, "Actually, it's nothing, Boruto. Since I became conscious, no one has ever spent the night in my own house, and you are the first. It gives me a feeling I've never had before."
A faint sadness flickered in Naruto's eyes as he continued to gaze at Boruto, his voice slightly heavy: "I've never seen my father and mother since I was little, and I don't even know who they are, what they look like, or what they do."
Naruto calmly stated this, and he was already used to being whispered about by the villagers as an orphan.
Boruto confidently said, "Your father must be a great hero, and your mother is a gentle and dignified beautiful woman. Your future children will be very handsome."
Boruto talked on and on to Naruto, his face turning slightly red with embarrassment by the end.
Upon hearing Boruto's words, Naruto couldn't help but burst into laughter: "Hahaha, Boruto, you're really funny. Thank you for comforting me; I'm very grateful for your kind intentions."
Naruto laughed as he gently wiped away the tears welling up in his eyes. His laughter gradually subsided, replaced by a hint of sadness.
"Even if it's true, so what? In the end, he still abandoned me..." Naruto's eyes dimmed as he finished speaking.
Boruto, seeing Naruto's dejected expression, didn't know what to do and softly called out, "Naruto..."
Naruto took a deep breath, trying to compose himself. He looked up, his familiar smile returning to his face: "It's okay, it's okay! Let's not talk about those 'unimportant' people anymore."
"Hey, it's getting late, let's go to sleep. We have training and missions tomorrow, and I don't want to lose to that arrogant Sasuke." With that, Naruto lay back down in bed, turning his face to the side. "Goodnight."
"Okay, goodnight." Boruto looked at Naruto's profile and felt a pang of sadness.
......
Time passed without anyone noticing; all around was silent, save for the occasional chirping of insects in the distance.
However, in this seemingly calm moment, Boruto suddenly felt a strange chill, and a strong sense of crisis ran through his body like an electric current.
Suddenly, a soft "whoosh!" sound rang out in the silent room, like a fine needle slicing through the air.
Before he could even see what was happening, Boruto reacted instinctively, rolling away from the blankets to the corner of the wall.
Boruto's heart seemed to stop for a moment. His gaze was fixed on the kunai, which was firmly stuck in the bedding, just inches away from where he had been lying.
Boruto, pressed against the corner of the wall, suddenly remembered Naruto still sleeping in bed and hurriedly shouted, "Naruto, run! Someone's attacking! Naruto... Naruto?!"
When Boruto saw that the bed was empty, he felt a pang of anxiety, realizing that Naruto might have met with misfortune and been silently taken away by the enemy.
Just as Boruto was trying to see who had launched the nighttime attack, he caught a glimpse of Naruto standing by the window, holding several kunai in his hand.
Boruto instantly understood the situation. Naruto was the one who had ambushed him in the dark. He couldn't help but question, "Naruto, what are you doing? Do you want to kill me?"
Naruto did not respond to Boruto's calls at all. With the help of the faint moonlight coming in from the window, Boruto was able to observe Naruto's condition more clearly.
Boruto noticed that Naruto's head was tilted slightly, his eyes were closed, and his breathing was even. He was clearly still immersed in his dream and showed no signs of waking up.
Boruto's eyes widened. "No way? Dad sleepwalks? How come I didn't know that happened?"
Before Boruto could delve into the possibility of Naruto sleepwalking, Naruto suddenly launched a new attack on him.
In the ensuing struggle, Boruto tried to wake Naruto from his slumber by making his voice heard, but Naruto was completely absorbed in his dream and did not respond to his calls.
Boruto tried several more times, but each time he failed.
He could only adopt a defensive stance, constantly dodging Naruto's attacks while looking for an opportunity to temporarily stun Naruto and stop this unconscious battle.
The night passed quietly...
As dawn broke and the darkness of night gradually dissipated, the strange battle between Boruto and Naruto finally came to an end. The sky began to lighten, and rays of sunlight shone on the streets of Konoha.
Boruto lay on the floor, panting heavily, his gaze blankly fixed on the ceiling. Deep dark circles surrounded his eyes, a testament to the fact that he had spent the entire night in a sleepwalking battle with Naruto, without a moment's peace.
I really don't understand how he can be so exhausted from training during the day, and then have so much energy to sleepwalk at night.
After finally managing to knock Naruto unconscious with great effort, I thought I could finally get a good night's sleep, but I didn't expect my dad to be such a terrible sleeper, snoring so loudly. I don't know how my mom can put up with him.
Naruto slowly woke up from his dream. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and greeted Boruto with a slightly drowsy expression, "Good morning."
Naruto then slowly stretched his limbs, and as he moved his body, he felt waves of pain, especially in the muscles of his neck.
Naruto rubbed the sore spot, grimacing in pain, "Ouch, that hurts. It feels like I've been through a big battle. I feel uncomfortable all over."
Naruto looked around and found the room in disarray, with items scattered all over the floor. He exclaimed in surprise, "Huh! What happened here?"
What comes into view is a ground littered with darts, traces of a battle, and a still-shaken Boruto lying on the ground.
"Hey, Boruto, what are you doing? And what's going on in this room?" Naruto asked Boruto, looking at him with a puzzled expression.
Boruto stared at Naruto with his bloodshot eyes and said resentfully, "How dare you ask me something like this? If I hadn't reacted quickly enough, you would have turned my head into a pineapple head last night."
Naruto finally realized what had happened. He laughed awkwardly, scratching his head as he explained, "Ah, haha, sorry, sorry. I really forgot that I sometimes sleep badly. No wonder I dreamt last night that someone was sparring with me all night long."
Naruto looked at Boruto seriously, his tone carrying a hint of assurance: "Don't worry, this kind of thing rarely happens. I promise it won't happen again next time."
Boruto replied with a wry smile, "Huh? You want a next time? Once is already fatal, okay?"
Boruto pondered in his heart that he might really need to consider renting a house outside, since sleeping next to Naruto was a real safety concern.
Moreover, in this situation, whether or not one can fall asleep is another matter, but the fear is that one day one might never wake up again.
Boruto ultimately gave up the idea of renting a house. He realized that renting a house would require a considerable expense, and his current financial situation was really tight. He didn't even have a single coin in his pocket, making him a complete pauper.
Naruto stood up excitedly, his voice echoing in the room: "Alright! Let's start a day full of energy! Boruto, stop lying on the tatami mat, get up, let's train together!"
Naruto's eyes sparkled with anticipation; he couldn't wait to start the new day.
"Boruto, teach me that... Spinning Ball..." Naruto racked his brains trying to come up with the name. "Kakashi-sensei said that this technique is very powerful."
Naruto was especially excited at the thought of that powerful move. He wanted to learn it as soon as possible so that he could defeat Sasuke, who always had an arrogant attitude, in future battles.
"That's not called a Spinning Ball, that's a Rasengan," Boruto corrected. Although he was tired, he still agreed to Naruto's request. "I'll teach you, but now, let me get some sleep." After saying that, Boruto closed his eyes and soon fell into a deep sleep.
