Chapter 51 Interrogation
Chapter 51 Interrogation
The light in front of the cell was completely blocked by a group of prison guards, and the heavy footsteps suddenly stopped.
"This is it. You mean the fugitive is here tonight? We've been patrolling all night, and we haven't seen anyone sneak out."
Kurt slowly opened the door to cell 306, his tone full of doubt.
"waste."
The leader, his face grim, grabbed Kurt by the collar, slammed him against the iron gate, flung open the cell door, and walked straight in.
"Why are there only two of you? Where are the other two?" Kurt hurriedly followed in, and upon seeing the scene, he instantly flew into a rage.
At this moment, Su Zixu was leaning against the headboard, drool hanging from the corner of his mouth, his eyes clear but dull, and his hands curled up like chicken claws.
Upon seeing the man and Kurt, he kept grinning foolishly and clapping incessantly.
"Has he always been like this?" the team leader asked in a deep voice.
"No! Everything was fine during roll call tonight!" Kurt hurriedly explained.
He knew that such a big thing had happened, and he was responsible for it, so he could only try his best to shirk responsibility.
"It's not that I didn't supervise them properly; they were definitely putting on an act. It's not entirely my fault!"
"How would I know if you're in cahoots?" the man interrupted him coldly, and before Kurt could explain further, he immediately ordered his men to take him away.
The man's gaze fell on Liu Runyu, who was curled up on the ground.
Liu Runyu had a large bump on his head and his arms were covered in bruises, clearly indicating that he had been beaten.
The man stepped forward to pull him up, but as soon as he touched Liu Runyu's arm, Liu Runyu screamed as if he had been electrocuted.
"Don't touch me! Fine, I won't stop you, but if you want to run, just run! Why are you hitting me?!"
Liu Runyu cried out, his face covered in tears and snot.
"They take their anger out on me every day, and even tried to drag me into the prison break. I said I didn't want to get involved, but you guys just beat me to death! I can't live like this anymore!"
Su Zixu watched him cry his heart out, barely suppressing a smile.
Luckily, he has a high threshold for laughter, otherwise he would have burst out laughing on the spot and given himself away.
Since he had already started acting, he had to see it through to the end. He also began to sob, his voice growing louder and louder, attracting the attention of the prison guards.
"They hit me... Ah... There are bad people upstairs..." Su Zixu cried as she pointed tremblingly at her upper bunk with her little finger.
Upon hearing this, Liu Runyu cried even harder, his eyes tightly shut, and he almost burst out laughing.
After all, people are less likely to laugh in more serious situations.
The man frowned, at a loss for what to do with the two, and said coldly:
"Take them both away! Separate these two into different cells! Get the people in the interrogation room up and interrogate them tonight!"
During the transport, Su Zixu continued to feign ignorance, while Liu Runyu continued to cry and make a scene.
No one noticed the dark and ambiguous light hidden in Su Zixu's lowered eyes.
He still can't believe that there was a traitor in his ranks.
Old Zeng and Ron are both walking on the edge of a knife tonight; they have no reason to betray their teammates.
So the suspicion falls on the junior prison guard and Lizzie. The junior prison guard is cowardly and stupid, and most likely doesn't have the guts or brains to do such a thing;
Clizzi couldn't understand her reasons or benefits for betraying him.
What weighed heavily on his mind was that Ron and Old Zeng were probably in grave danger.
Moments later, the two were taken to the interrogation room in Zone 1.
The corridor was pitch black, with motion-sensor lights only briefly turning on when someone passed by.
Su Zixu turned his head slightly and noticed that only the window on the door of the first interrogation room was lit up, while the rest of the rooms were completely dark.
The sounds coming from the interrogation room shattered his last glimmer of hope.
That was the voice of a junior prison guard.
"Are they all dead...?"
Su Zixu clenched his fists quietly, a bitter feeling welling up in his heart. Then, in a fit of madness, he let out two loud cries.
The next second, a tremendous force came from behind him, and he fell to the ground, his mouth immediately tasting rust.
With a loud bang, the interrogation room door was violently slammed shut, and the surroundings instantly fell into dead silence.
Su Zixu looked around and, after confirming that there were no surveillance cameras, slowly turned over, lay on the ground, and rubbed his sore nose.
He quickly considered a way to escape, and if given the chance, he would avenge Ron and Old Zeng.
Before he could catch his breath, footsteps approached from afar.
Su Zixu immediately reverted to his dazed state, and the door was violently kicked open.
Two men in black and a medical worker in a white coat walked in, the latter pushing a cart full of tools.
At the same time, Liu Runyu's mournful screams came from next door, and Su Zixu's heart trembled.
"Guess why there are no security cameras here?"
One of the men in black stared at Su Zixu, who was sitting on the ground, and said in a tone that was chillingly calm, "Whether you're really stupid or just pretending, we'll find out soon enough."
After saying that, he gave the medical staff a wink, and the cold interrogation officially began.
Meanwhile, in the first interrogation room, two interrogators sat opposite Ron.
With outsiders present, Lizzie kept asking questions in circles, clearly stalling for time and waiting for an opportunity.
Ron's hands were tied behind his back to the chair, his knuckles clenched so tightly they turned white. To protect himself, he could only steer all the questions toward the dead.
He could hear everything that was happening in the corridor, and he knew it was Su Zixu and Liu Runyu.
He couldn't understand why the outstanding students he had personally mentored would betray them.
If he's willing to use so many people as stepping stones just to survive, then he's really misjudged him.
Such a person is not even fit to be a human being, let alone pursue academic research.
Time seemed to pass incredibly slowly, as the wails and cries from next door repeatedly tugged at Ron's nerves.
When Lizzie noticed that the interrogator next to her was already snoring, she glanced at her watch and gently nudged him, saying, "Go and rest. It's already morning. Leave the rest to me."
After being woken up, the interrogator apologized repeatedly and only left after confirming that Lizzie could complete the interrogation on her own.
In the interrogation room, only Ron and Lizzie remained, and the atmosphere instantly became eerie.
