Chapter 47 Dealing with Trivial Matters
Chapter 47 Dealing with Trivial Matters
The Scepter of Life was traded to the East University, the ring was traded to the West University, and Vega promised not to sell the bodysuit to anyone at the request of the five great nations.
After settling the trivial matters of the transaction, Vega borrowed a car from the Allied headquarters and returned to Manhattan.
Collapsed buildings and abandoned cars were everywhere, and heavily armed soldiers were looting and vandalizing the area. Sporadic but intense gunfire could be heard from all around.
Manhattan is destroyed, and it will be difficult to restore it to its former glory and splendor before the war.
Because Vega was driving a military vehicle, and because he ignored all the dirt on the road, he had no trouble getting through.
Instead of returning to the office, he went to the port at the southern end of the port.
The seaside resort hotel was in ruins, and his favorite white yacht had also disappeared, presumably sunk somewhere in New York Bay.
Vega stood on the dock with a pained expression. He wasn't heartbroken about losing the yacht, but rather about the fishing rod he had spent a fortune on and left on it.
That's the fishing rod Alfred Dean used in 1959 when he caught a 1208-kilogram great white shark off the coast of Sedona, Australia!
After cursing for a long time with his hands on his hips facing New York Bay, Vega got into his car in frustration and drove towards Hell's Kitchen.
Awesome!
Standing beside his home, now a deep pit, Vega remained expressionless.
Those damned Chitauri scum, I should have rushed through the portal that day and kept killing you!
Damn Loki, if I ever run into you, I'll beat the crap out of you!
With his home gone, Vega, who wasn't in the habit of rummaging through the trash, decided to move on to the next thing.
The car hadn't gone far when a pale-faced man in a suit and sunglasses walked out from the street corner.
Seeing this, Vega drove over and parked on the side of the road, rolling down the window: "Long time no see."
Matt Murdoch: "Long time no see, Lee. I'm sorry I didn't protect your house."
"Heh, that's none of your business. I heard you've been controlled by aliens?" Vega picked up the cigarette case, tapped it lightly with his fingers, and a cigarette flew into his mouth. He took a breath, and the cigarette immediately ignited.
Matt Murdoch: "Yes, I told that evil god Loki about you, and then he sent people to blow up your house, your yacht, and the Hilton Hotel."
"..." Vega was stunned. Good heavens, so the culprit was right here!
Matt Murdoch: "I'm really sorry, but don't worry, I will compensate you."
"Forget it, you're a penniless wretch who's always hungry, what money do you have? How are Fuji and Karen doing?"
Matt Murdoch: "They're all dead. Foggie was killed by the invaders, and Karen was..."
Matt Murdoch didn't finish his sentence, but Vega could guess what a beautiful girl would encounter in such a chaotic environment.
Vega paused for a moment, then changed the subject, asking, "Do you know where Loki is?"
Matt Murdoch shook his head: "He disappeared when the army attacked Manhattan."
"Alright." Vega cast a healing spell on Matt Murdoch, then started the car and drove away. "Stay alive, Manhattan still needs Daredevil to save it."
"Daredevil, do I still have the right to call myself Daredevil? Hah, Daredevil is beyond saving..." Matt Murdoch recalled his actions after being controlled, listening to the sounds around him that were even more terrifying than when he was occupied by invaders. Two lines of tears streamed down his face behind his sunglasses, and a bitter smile, more painful than crying, appeared on his face...
Vega glanced at Matt Murdoch in the rearview mirror and muttered to himself, "Sigh, I hope you can get over this. I don't want to kill my own friend."
This intrusion has had a huge impact, and the hidden dangers are only just beginning to emerge.
Vega drove around Manhattan from the outside in, and when he encountered something he couldn't stand, a golden lightning bolt would descend from the sky, stunning or eliminating the person who was bothering him.
More than three hours later, Vega ignored the soldiers who were "rescuing artifacts" from the ruins of the collapsed Metropolitan Museum of Art, drove directly into the Central Garden, drove around, and finally stopped in the parking lot of the Dracote Theatre.
Getting out of the car, Vega looked at the small lake, lawn, grove of trees, and the watchtower castle and golf course not far away, and murmured to himself, "The scenery here is really nice, quite suitable as your burial place."
No one responded to him, but he didn't care. A red light flickered in his golden eyes as he summoned a phoenix power, like flames, which flowed into the ground from beneath his feet and spread rapidly along the sewers.
"Great master, please spare me, please spare me! I am still useful, I can still serve you!" Tessa Marshall, naked, emaciated to the point of being almost unrecognizable, her body covered in wounds and filth, knelt on the ground, pleading tearfully with the black monster sitting on the golden throne atop a high platform of gold.
"Heh, heh, your only value now is to be my lunch."
"Don't be afraid, dear. I'll be gentler for the sake of how long you've served me." Venom/Eddie Brook rose from his throne and slowly walked down.
"No, no! I'm still useful! I'm still useful!" Tessa Marshall scrambled away in terror, pleading as she went, "Master, you promised me! You promised you wouldn't eat me when I gave you my daughter, sister, and mother! You can't break your promise!"
Venom/Eddie Brook: "I didn't break my promise. I did promise not to eat you, but I didn't promise to never eat you."
Tessa Marshall: "You, you devil, you devil, you lied to me!"
Venom/Eddie Brook laughs: "Haha~, you know I'm the devil. Isn't it common sense to be cheated when making a deal with the devil?"
Haha~, don't run away. You know you've been lying to me all along, but you just want to live, so you've hypnotized yourself.
Hehehe, you're a devil too! If you weren't on the verge of death, I really wouldn't have the heart to eat you. I really enjoy watching you deceive yourself.
Tessa Marshall broke down in tears, crying, "You devil! You're a devil! You deserve to die!!!"
"Go ahead and curse, I'll send you to reunite with your family right now!" Venom/Eddie Brook raised his right hand, and his right arm rapidly grew and deformed, appearing behind Tessa Marshall in the blink of an eye. He grabbed her neck and pulled her back to his side.
"No, no, Master, please..." Tessa Marshall hadn't finished speaking when scorching flames surged in and engulfed the underground space...
