Chapter 233: The Revenge of the Void Fragment
Chapter 233: The Revenge of the Void Fragment
The shattered crystals gradually dissipated as the previous fierce battle ended, but this momentary calm was clearly false. The Observer, Lysa, and the Arbiter, though victorious by chance, felt an uneasy tremor within. The deep roar still echoed deep within the crack, like an angry response from the Void Avatar itself, or perhaps a harbinger of impending disaster.
"In the battle just now, it seems that the Void Avatar did not go all out." The Observer's voice was deep and thoughtful, and the Star Chart Scepter in his hand was still flashing a faint blue light as he analyzed the energy flow around him.
"Are you talking nonsense?" the Arbiter said coldly. His twin blades had been corroded by the Void Tentacles in the previous battle, and the originally bright red flames had become dim and chaotic. "That was just a crystal, a split off thing. The real enemy has not yet appeared."
Lysa didn't speak, but cautiously scanned her surroundings, gripping her spear tightly. She knew very well that the threat deep within the rift had only just begun. This area appeared calm, but countless tiny energy fluctuations were gathering in all directions, creating an eerie stillness like the calm before a storm.
“We have entered the heart of the rift, one of the places where the power of the Void Avatar is strongest.” The Observer raised the Star Chart Scepter, pointing to the distorted darkness in the distance. “Have you noticed? Those energies are reorganizing, forming a larger entity.”
Lessa frowned slightly: "Reorganize? You mean... those avatars from before will reappear?"
“They won’t just be avatars.” The observer took a deep breath. “They will evolve, become stronger, and more deadly.”
Just as the observer finished speaking, the entire rift space began to tremble violently. The mirror-like ground gradually shattered, revealing an unfathomable darkness beneath. Numerous ethereal tentacles shot out from the bottom of the rift, rapidly weaving into a massive net in the air. These tentacles were thicker than before, their surfaces radiating a dark red light, seemingly absorbing the energy released from the crystal explosion.
Lessa swiftly raised her spear and swung it forcefully, a golden light slicing towards the tentacles. The light struck one of the tentacles, but was bounced back by the red light on its surface, the impact of the spear making her arm numb.
“They’ve become stronger.” Lessa gritted his teeth and assumed a fighting stance again.
The Arbiter sneered, and dark red flames reignited on his twin blades. He charged forward, launching a fierce attack on the tentacle net. The flames swept out like a storm, instantly incinerating several tentacles to ashes, but soon even more tentacles surged from the abyss, their numbers exceeding those of the previous ones.
"Are they endless?" the Arbiter roared, swinging his twin blades as he tried to retreat to the Observer's side.
A cool glint flashed in the observer's eyes. He raised the Star Chart Scepter high, and a beam of azure light shot out from its tip, enveloping the entire cracked area. The tentacles seemed extremely sensitive to the power of the Star Chart; under the suppression of the beam of light, they began to slow down.
“These tentacles are not infinite,” the observer quickly analyzed. “They rely on some kind of core node to maintain their operation. We must find that node to completely cut off their supply.”
"Easier said than done," the adjudicator scoffed. "These things are so tangled they're making it difficult for us to even move. How are we supposed to find them?"
Just then, an even more powerful energy surged from afar. The dark red vortex deep within the rift began to expand rapidly, and a gigantic figure slowly emerged from it. This was a being completely different from the previous Void Avatar split. It was a hundred feet tall, its entire body composed of fragments of rules and Void energy, and a huge dark red "Core of Rules" shimmered on its chest.
"What the hell is this thing?" The Arbiter looked up at the enormous creature and frowned.
“This is the evolved form of the Void Fragment.” The Observer’s voice was icy. “It absorbed the energy from the previous battle and has now transformed into a more advanced form.”
Lysa gripped his spear tightly, his eyes filled with fighting spirit: "Whatever it is, we must deal with it."
However, the colossal avatar did not launch an immediate attack. Instead, it raised its arm. A dark red wave of light emanated from its palm, instantly covering the entire cracked area. All the ethereal tentacles seemed to become even more ferocious at this moment, their movements accelerating as they began to actively attack the three.
The observer quickly erected a barrier, enveloping the three of them, but the barrier's power began to vibrate violently under the impact of the tentacles, and it was in danger of collapsing at any moment.
"This can't go on!" the observer cried. "We must break its core, or we'll be worn down!"
Lysa launched the first attack. She concentrated all her energy into her spear, leaped into the air, and thrust it straight at the core of the Void Avatar's chest. However, just as she was about to hit her target, several tentacles suddenly split off from the Avatar's chest, firmly binding her spear.
"Damn it!" Leisa struggled violently, but the spear was snatched away by the tentacles and thrown far away.
Upon seeing this, the Arbiter immediately rushed forward. His crossed blades cleaved through several tentacles, buying Lysa a brief respite. But even more tentacles surged from the avatar's body, trapping the two in place, unable to move forward.
The observer's gaze remained fixed on the core of the avatar, the star chart scepter in his hand trembling slightly, as if searching for a weakness in some kind of energy. Suddenly, his eyes lit up: "Its core fluctuates periodically! At the lowest point of the fluctuation, the barrier will temporarily weaken; that's our only chance!"
"Then hurry up and give me directions!" the Arbitrator roared.
The observer did not respond, but instead closed his eyes, concentrating on sensing the core's fluctuations. When he opened his eyes again, he shouted, "Now! Attack the core!"
Both Lessa and the Arbiter launched their strongest attacks simultaneously. Lessa's spear returned to her hand, and she poured all her energy into it, causing the spear to emit a blazing golden light as it thrust straight at the avatar's chest. At the same time, the Arbiter's twin blades, burning with fiery red flames, slashed towards the core like two raging dragons.
The observer raised the Star Chart Scepter from a distance, and a beam of azure light locked onto the core fluctuation point, assisting the two in their attack.
The three forces struck the core simultaneously, causing the Void Avatar's rule core to emit a tremendous roar before a massive crack appeared. The avatar's body began to disintegrate, and its tentacles turned to ashes.
But at the very last moment before the avatar collapsed, its core suddenly released a powerful shockwave, blasting the three of them away. The rift space also began to tremble violently due to the impact.
