Chapter 1 Jasmine the Fairy
Chapter 1 Jasmine the Fairy
—The age of gods has quietly come to an end. Humanity, which has usurped divine power, stands at the top of the world and proclaims justice. But behind the glamour lies a filthy darkness. Pain and wailing pervade the world. Turmoil and catastrophe will descend once again. Hope born from despair is lost in time and space. A red thread connecting them leads to the meeting of destined people. Can their predetermined fate be broken?
"Captain, may I take her back to the ship?"
"Of course, but Shanks will have to take good care of her from now on."
"Of course! She's the treasure I've found!"
Shanks? Who's that? Wasn't she sleeping at home? Where is she now? I'm so sleepy, I can't keep my eyes open...
Sleepiness washed over her like a tide, as if she were sinking into a swamp, plunging into a bottomless darkness, silent and endless. Time seemed to stand still at that moment, and the fear of loneliness crept into her heart. The girl curled up her almost transparent body and slowly fell into the abyss called despair.
"Captain, why isn't she awake yet? Could she be sick?"
That voice again! Who could it be?
In the darkness, a flash of crimson seemed to tear through the darkness, and light shone straight in through the gap. The girl struggled to open her eyes, and her transparent hand reached for the only beam of light in the darkness. No matter who it was, she just wanted to escape from here, to escape this bottomless abyss that wanted to devour her.
Countless disgusting, sticky tentacles seemed to surge and churn within the abyss. The moment the beam of light appeared, the unknown creatures in the abyss immediately erupted into chaos. Five enormous, twisted monsters gradually revealed their distorted outlines. They stretched out their tentacles, trying to grab the girl who was about to escape, but the moment they touched the beam of light, they seemed to be burned, letting out shrill screams. The beam of light disappeared the instant the girl left, and the illusory space once again fell into endless darkness.
Deeper into the abyss, a strange, blood-red eye suddenly opened, like a gaze from hell, staring intently at the spot where the girl had disappeared. The screams abruptly ceased at that moment, and the five monsters cowered and hid to the side.
Perhaps out of anger at the girl's escape, an enormous tentacle smashed a monster into a pulp. Countless irregular creatures of various shapes then rushed forward to devour it, emitting chilling chewing sounds. The remaining four monsters became even more afraid to move, desperately trying to minimize their presence.
The corpse of the dead monster vanished in the blink of an eye, while a new, enormous figure began to materialize in its place. Its blood-red eyes, having vented their fury, slowly closed, and everything returned to silence.
Moko suddenly woke up. The darkness before her eyes was gone. A few soft clouds of different shapes drifted across the azure sky. A red-haired boy walked straight into Moko's field of vision. The boy's red hair was smooth and shiny, like a flamboyant and unrestrained flame, which easily attracted all of Moko's attention. When he saw Moko wake up, the red-haired boy's eyes lit up instantly.
"Captain, she's awake! She's awake!"
The boy shouted loudly in the other direction. Moko came back to her senses and stared blankly at her fair and delicate little hand that was holding the boy's fingers. She was stunned for a long time.
"Yeah ah!"
Moko wanted to ask what was going on, but found that even her voice had turned into a soft, babyish voice. The rest of her words got stuck in her throat. Had she turned into a baby? She had stumbled upon a one-in-a-billion chance to transmigrate!?
"Really? Let me see."
As soon as he finished speaking, a man with a curly beard and a red cloak walked over. The man looked at Moko curiously, and the curly beard and skull hat on his head tilted slightly with the man's movements.
Moko blinked and stared at the two people in front of her. Although she really wanted to ask what was going on, she couldn't speak yet, so where was she dressed?
"The little one seems to be in pretty good spirits, Shanks. You're the one who brought this child back, so you'd better take good care of her, hahaha."
"Uh-huh!"
The boy called Shanks nodded excitedly, his eyes sparkling, a bright smile on his lips, his sharply defined face even more delicate than a girl's.
Moko's eyes darted around. Although she didn't know what was going on, the boy in front of her gave her a sense of security. As it turned out, she wasn't in any danger.
"Eeya~"
Moko moved her little hand and realized that she was still holding Shanks' finger tightly. Moko hesitated whether to let go or not. She didn't want to let go, feeling that she would feel very uncomfortable if she did. But then she thought, "She's a baby now. It should be fine if she holds on for a while longer."
What are you talking about?
Shanks tilted his head in confusion, looking at Moko. Moko followed Shanks's tilt of the head, and the two stared at each other. Moko's clear, bright eyes reflected Shanks's image. Suddenly, Moko flashed a cute, innocent smile. Her adorable appearance made Shanks blush instantly, his ears turning a light red. Shanks excitedly looked up at Roger.
"Captain, did you see that? She smiled! She smiled! How cute!"
"Yes, yes, I saw it, Rayleigh, come and see! The little guy is smiling!"
Roger shouted without turning his head. The blond man sitting on the recliner reading the newspaper tilted his head slightly, looked at the two people, one big and one small, who were completely mesmerized, and chuckled helplessly. It seems that the ship will be quite lively from now on.
"Have you two decided on a name for this little guy? We can't just keep calling him 'little guy' forever."
Rayleigh spoke casually, flipping through a page of the newspaper. Upon hearing about naming, Roger and Shanks exchanged glances, their bewildered looks clearly indicating that they hadn't considered the matter at all. Rayleigh shook his head helplessly, put down the newspaper, and raised an eyebrow at the two deep in thought, seemingly not intending to help.
Moko blinked, looking at the two people whose faces were all tangled up with anxiety. She could accept anything as long as it wasn't Xiaobai or Xiaohei, since the two didn't seem to be good at naming things, and besides, she didn't have the right to refuse right now.
Shanks stared at Moko for a while, then suddenly seemed to notice something, and the entanglement in his eyes faded, becoming clear and bright.
"Let's call her Moko."
"Moko?"
Roger clearly didn't understand. Shanks gently pulled his fingers out of Moko's hand, picked up a white petal from his collar, and handed it to Roger. Roger looked at the petal from all sides.
"Are these petals from a fairy jasmine?"
"Yes, the place where I found Moko-chan happened to be surrounded by a large patch of fairy jasmine. The cute little fairy born from the jasmine flowers is Moko-chan!"
Shanks teased Moko with his long, slender fingers. Moko waved her little hand and caught the waving finger in front of her, a relieved smile on her face. Sure enough, it's more reassuring to hold something in your hand.
"Yeeeeeeeeee~"
"Captain, look, Moko-chan likes this name too."
Roger looked at Moko's lovely smile, and a slow smile appeared on his lips. He loosened his grip on the petal, and the petal was blown by the wind onto the sea and flew to a farther place.
"She is indeed a very cute jasmine fairy, little Moko, welcome aboard!"
"Eeya~"
Although Moko didn't quite understand the situation, the three people all exuded a very friendly aura and seemed to be good people. Since she had already transmigrated, she might as well stay put. As a dutiful lazy bum, Moko didn't want to become a hero and save the world. No matter where she was, as long as she could lie down and relax, it was a good world.
"Goo~"
The stomach growl came abruptly, and all three looked at Moke. Being stared at so suddenly, Moke felt her face burning. "It's okay, it's okay. She's a baby now, it's normal to be hungry. She's not shy at all," Moke kept telling herself, but the burning sensation on her face didn't subside at all.
Shanks and Roger exchanged a glance and winked, then looked at Rayleigh sitting to the side in unison. Rayleigh's forehead twitched. Moko didn't understand why her stomach was growling. Shanks and Roger were looking at Rayleigh, following the principle of "if you don't understand, join in." Moko then opened her big, watery eyes and looked at Rayleigh as well.
Feeling the intense onslaught from three pairs of big eyes, Rayleigh sighed deeply, suddenly remembering that Shanks was also abandoned by Rayleigh when he was a child. He was destined to take care of this whole family e-(?д??)!
Despite his complaints, Rayleigh resignedly got up and went into the kitchen. He rummaged through the cupboard for milk and started heating it. Moko was too young to drink milk directly, but he could only make do for now. Rayleigh pondered, "Should I wait a few days until we get to the island and buy a cow? They should be able to keep it on the ship, right?"
Shanks stood to the side holding Moko, watching Rayleigh operate the machine and silently memorizing the steps. Seeing Shanks' serious expression, Rayleigh was very pleased. He reached out and punched Roger on the head, who was tempting Moko with roasted meat. Then he squatted down to show Shanks how to test the temperature of the milk.
"Like this, drip milk onto your wrist, and only feed it to Xiaomo when it feels cool enough to drink."
Rayleigh tested the temperature on his own wrist, and after confirming it was about right, he took Shanks' free hand and dripped some milk onto Shanks' wrist as he spoke.
"Uh-huh."
Shanks nodded to indicate that he understood. After feeling that the temperature was right, he took the bottle and fed it to Moko. The aroma of milk swirled around Moko's nose, and Moko immediately looked away from Roger. She stretched out her short little arms, grabbed the front of the bottle, and began to suck. Shanks supported the bottle, reducing most of the weight so that it wouldn't crush Moko at all.
Moko's eyes sparkled as she drank her milk; she looked absolutely adorable. Shanks stared at her intently, while Roger, with a large bump on his head, peeked over, brimming with curiosity.
When Shanks was found, he was already a year old. And since he was a boy, he was raised rather roughly. Shanks was basically raised on potato puree. Later, when a baby bottle was bought, Shanks was completely uninterested and never used it. I never expected that this baby bottle would come in handy now.
"Shanks, I heard the little guy is awake!"
A blue-haired, red-nosed boy burst in from outside, his voice incredibly loud. Shanks glared at the boisterous blue-haired boy.
"Keep your voice down, Buggy! Moko-chan is eating. What if she gets scared?"
Bucky quickly covered his mouth, then thought about it and realized something was wrong. Why should he listen to Shanks? That was what he thought, but when he spoke again, his voice was noticeably softer.
Who is Moko-chan?
"I chose the name for the little one. What do you think? Isn't it nice?"
Shanks' eyes gleamed with smugness, while Buggy pouted and obediently moved closer to Moko. Moko blinked at the newly appeared boy. Red nose? Clown? Real nose or fake nose? As she thought this, she began to act. Moko freed one of her small hands and patted Buggy's nose. Her small hand didn't have much strength, but the pinching motion looked just like a gentle pat. Buggy was excited now.
"She likes me! Moko-chan touching me means she likes me."
Bucky grinned dismissively, Shanks clicked his tongue in disgust, and set the empty bottle aside. Rayleigh then instructed Shanks to hold Moko upright and pat her back until she burped before Shanks held her horizontally again.
The baby seemed to do nothing but eat and sleep. Not long after she finished eating, Moko started to yawn lazily. The people around her had been watching Moko, and when they saw her drowsy appearance, they immediately stopped talking. The rhythmic sound of the waves, the warm embrace, and their hearts gradually calmed down. Moko groped and grasped Shanks's fingers and slowly fell asleep.
