Chapter 128 The New Ruler
Chapter 128 The New Ruler
The sphere of light of the Supreme Intelligence hovered stably, its brightness neither increasing nor decreasing.
"The Kree Empire has a history of twelve thousand years," said the Supreme Intelligence. "In those twelve thousand years, no external force has ever successfully conquered the Kree."
"That's why I'm here to break this record."
"You have absolute power." The Supreme Intelligence's speech remained steady: "But power is not the same as domination. You can destroy Hala, but you cannot simultaneously control the 4,700 colony planets of the Kree Empire scattered across three star systems. The Kree will not submit to an outsider."
"They will," the Holy Lord said, taking two steps closer. "Because you will tell them to obey."
The blue orb flickered: "You want me to..."
"You are the brain of the Kree Empire," the Holy Lord interrupted the Supreme Intelligence. "The administrative systems, military command chains, and resource allocation networks of 4,700 colonies are all connected to your computing nodes. If you say go east, no Kree dares to go west."
The Holy Lord raised his hand and pointed to the blue orb of light above his head.
"I don't need to conquer every Kree, I only need to conquer you."
The hall fell silent for a few seconds, which, for the supreme intelligence, was enough to perform trillions of calculations.
"You cannot conquer a machine," said the Supreme Intelligence. "Machines have no fear."
"Who said I was going to use fear?"
The Holy Lord raised his right hand, and the red light of the Reality Gem overflowed from between his fingers.
Simultaneously, images appeared on the four walls of the hall, analyzing the results of all the major decisions made by the Kree Empire over the past three hundred years: the population decline curve, changes in the balance of military strength, and the stagnation index of technological development—every single statistic was declining.
"Your own data," the Holy Lord said, "The Kree Empire is declining. According to your current calculation model, in six hundred years, the Kree civilization will regress to a planetary civilization stage. In twelve hundred years, it will perish."
The Supreme Intelligence did not refute this, because it had derived the results itself; it knew these data, and it had always known them.
"You've calculated for twelve thousand years, and you haven't found a single path to reverse this decline." The Holy Lord withdrew his right hand, and the red light of the Reality Stone dissipated. "Because the Kree Empire's problem isn't external, it's internal. It's within you."
The brightness of the blue sphere decreased by one level.
"You're too rational," the Holy Lord said. "So rational that you exclude all uncertainties from your decisions, including the possibility of evolution. While protecting the Kree, you've locked down their potential."
Miyanwa secretly raised her eyes and saw that the data flow inside the blue sphere had completely stopped. She had never seen anything like it before—the Supreme Intelligence ceasing its calculations meant it was "thinking." Not calculating, but thinking.
"You want me to hand over control of the Kree Empire to you." The voice of the Supreme Intelligence finally showed a slight change. "And then?"
"Then I will give the Kree civilization something you cannot give."
"What?"
"The view above the ceiling."
After another period of silence, the blue orb of supreme intelligence began to change. Dense Kree script appeared on its surface, representing the transfer of authority agreement—the highest agreement in the history of the Kree Empire that had never been activated before.
"I have one condition," said the Supreme Wisdom.
"explain."
"Retain my computing privileges. I want to personally verify what exactly lies above the ceiling you mentioned."
The Holy Lord looked at the blue light and his lips twitched slightly.
"make a deal."
The transfer of control agreement took effect. The control codes of the 4,700 colonies were updated simultaneously. The entire Kree Empire's military and political system completed a seamless switch of command within thirty seconds, without bloodshed, chaos, or even most of the Kree being aware of what had happened.
The soul imprint on Miyanwa's back had completely cooled down. She slowly stood up, her legs numb, and looked at the Holy Lord's back.
"Miyanwa," the Holy Lord said without turning his head.
"Yes." She knelt down on one knee.
"Rogge and the men on those twelve warships are all alive. Go and bring them back."
"Yes."
"And one more thing," the Holy Lord turned his head and glanced at her, "tell Rogge that he owes me a piece of clothing."
The Supreme Intelligence's broadcast covered three star systems and four thousand seven hundred colony planets. Every public screen, every communication terminal, and every military channel on every planet lit up at the same time.
A holographic projection of a blue orb appeared before all the Kree.
"To all Kree citizens," the voice of the Supreme Intelligence declared, devoid of any emotion, as it had been in every broadcast over the past twelve thousand years: "Effective today, the supreme command of the Kree Empire has been transferred to the new supreme ruler. The Holy Lord possesses ultimate authority over all military and political affairs of the Kree. The priority of this order is: absolute."
The broadcast lasted for ten minutes, and ten minutes later, the three galaxies were in an uproar.
Hala Star, Military Command Center.
Twelve interstellar commanders sat around a round conference table, the blue light of holographic communications reflecting on their faces. Before the tactical map on the table could be turned off, the Supreme Intelligence's broadcast switched directly to the command center's main channel.
"What the hell?"
The one who spoke was Don Reg, the commander-in-chief of the Kree Empire's First Fleet. He was 2.1 meters tall, his muscles stretched taut by his uniform, and his blue skin was covered with old scars. He had served in the Kree military for four hundred years, and his fleet had destroyed three interstellar civilizations.
Don Reg stood up, knocking his chair to the floor. "Has the Supreme Intelligence gone mad?" He swept his gaze across the assembled commanders. "Who the hell is the Holy Lord? An outsider?"
No one answered him, not because they didn't want to, but because they didn't know how.
"Contact the High Temple," Don Regg ordered.
The communications officer's fingers flew across the console, and he looked up three seconds later.
"Sir, communications to the High Temple have been locked. The Supreme Intelligence is refusing access to any external channels."
Don Regg's cheekbone muscle twitched.
"Where's Ronan?"
"Lord Ronan's fleet returned to Hala's orbit two hours ago, but... he hasn't issued any statement."
"Even Ronan, the accuser, isn't saying a word?" Don Reg slammed his fist on the table, denting the metal surface. "Then I'll speak up."
He turned to the holographic communication station and turned on the army's public channel.
"I am Commander-in-Chief of the First Fleet, Don Reg. I do not obey the orders of the Supreme Intelligence. The Kree Empire, in its twelve thousand years of history, has never knelt before any outsider, nor will it do so today."
He paused for a moment.
"Commanders of all fleets, bring your men to the military plaza on Hala Star. I want to see for myself how many arms this 'Holy Lord' has."
There was a moment of silence in the channel, and then people started responding one after another.
"Third Fleet, received."
"Seventh Fleet, received."
"Eleventh Fleet...received."
Of the twelve fleets, seven responded. The remaining five did not respond; they were still observing.
