Chapter 118 : Analysis 1
When Sal frowned at her disappointed expression, she raised her hands and smiled reassuringly.
"Sorry, sorry. The visor's result was just so dramatic... I guess I got my hopes up unnecessarily. The sniper rifle had excellent abilities like Hunt, Headshot, and Grounded, you know? This one also has an ability to amplify damage, so it's good enough, but I was expecting something more handy."
Upgrade pointed at the revolver as if trying to change the subject.
"Still, it's really amazing. Five abilities and the potential to evolve to the highest rank. It's fantastic, Sal! I can't believe the estimated value is so low."
Sal burst into laughter.
"I think it's because it's a set item, so it was appraised individually. You don't need to worry too much about the value assessment. It's subjective and just an estimate, after all. Just looking at the number of abilities, if it appeared in the auction house, it would surely sell for a huge price."
He turned his gaze back to the item, his smile fading slightly.
Since it was much better than expected, he wasn't disappointed with the result at all.
The Burst ability increased shooting power, so it was useful enough, and it would likely synergize with the Reaction ability.
Link, Exploit, and Synergy were absolutely necessary for the revolver to function properly and supply Essence to the visor.
Sal shook his head and laughed.
Because the whole situation felt ridiculous.
"Even if it's not that powerful right now, who knows how terrifying it will become when eleven more abilities are unlocked in the future."
Upgrade grinned and nodded.
"That's right. Who knows how strong it will get over time? ...Now, I don't think the Captain would mind if we skipped ahead a bit, so do you want to analyze the materials in that box first?"
Sal didn't need to hesitate any longer.
As he lifted the visor and placed it over his right ear, a series of Runes activated in sequence as if preparing, and a bright smile spread across Sal's face.
Even before he opened his mouth, Upgrade's stats began to appear before his eyes.
When Sal first activated the Analysis ability, it was truly an overwhelming experience.
Amidst the chaos filled with numbers, Quest's Tracker brought a bit of order and even added some additional information.
He wasn't sure if it was thanks to the Reasoning ability or simply the effect of the Analysis ability, but the newly crafted visor could smoothly control all that data.
As the visor calibrated the information on the screen, myriad conclusions popped up one after another.
Graphs and numbers overlapped on the screen, pinpointing Upgrade's characteristics and performing calculations at lightning speed. Since the visor took on all the labor itself, there was no burden on Sal.
He just had to watch, mesmerized, as each category filled up randomly.
A smile spread across his lips as the newly acquired information was neatly categorized into various sections, just like when using the Appraisal skill.
The most surprising thing was that it took only a few seconds for more than half of the report to be completed.
'I can't even blink for fear of missing a single letter.'
A moment later, as if rewarding his patience, a screen with Upgrade's fully analyzed stats appeared.
There were many technical terms he couldn't understand, but he could roughly guess.
He scanned the screen repeatedly until the information stopped adding new categories.
The amount was excessive, but Sal liked it.
Finally blinking, he began to read the stat screen.

Sal had absolutely no idea where to start unraveling the poured-out information.
The amount was so vast that he had to stop midway through the list to catch his breath.
It was utterly nightmarish.
Imagining having to read it all out loud to Upgrade one by one was simply painful.
As his gaze lingered on the reputation section, the System seemed to judge that he wanted to see more of the relationships Upgrade had built over the years.
A few seconds later, an additional list of over thirty organizations appeared.
Sal had to forcibly tear his eyes away, hoping that the endlessly expanding section would stop pouring out data.
Instead, he turned his eyes to the most interesting part: Upgrade's skill section.
'I couldn't be sure, but it seems the Skill Master ability is providing much more context than usual.'
Each stat related to Upgrade's ability was broken down in detail, and it included several surprising pieces of information.
The fact that ranks existed for each skill was news to him.
The fact that they could be evolved into more powerful variations was also new.
Especially the Synergy data seemed useful for choosing skills to transplant later, and Sal was excited at the thought of analyzing himself.
A thrill of anticipation ran down his spine, but he tried to ignore it.
Sal moved his gaze to the bottom of the screen and was surprised to see the scroll automatically go up, adding a bunch of new information to Upgrade's profile.
Some of it was related to her threat level, and what was surprising wasn't that he had underestimated Upgrade's ability.
Rather, it was shocking that the visor understood her equipment and accurately grasped its ability to enhance her for a short time.
Sal stood there for a moment longer, completely overwhelmed by the vast information pouring from his fingertips.
He never imagined so much content would unfold in such a short time.
"Are you just going to keep staring at me like that?"
Upgrade tapped on the table with a familiar rhythm and smiled.
At those words, Sal snapped out of it and realized he had been completely spaced out.
He let out an awkward laugh and pointed at the visor.
"This just showed me your entire biography, Professor. It seems to have read the Essence from your Q-Card and cross-referenced it with the System ability built by Headmaster Quest. But Network or System aren't even listed in the ability list, yet it looks like it's using them? I can't understand it at all, but it's truly amazing."
Sal tried to organize his thoughts but ultimately couldn't find any answers.
"Okay, first of all... tell me everything it said about me. I'll tell you myself whether it's all lies or not. But honestly, I am a bit curious. The fact that all my information is gathered and calculated like that... feels strange."
When Upgrade crossed her arms, Sal saw her threat level on the visor rise slightly and burst into laughter.
It was truly an unbelievably amazing item.
Upgrade stared straight at Sal and gestured roughly toward the revolver on the table.
"Did your gun have an ability specifically listed as 'Shooting'? No, because that's the gun's inherent function. Your Tracker's function is information gathering, and since it was based on Headmaster Quest's design, it probably possesses functions integrating Network and System abilities even without actual skills. Imagine making a radio. If you made it properly, it would naturally pick up available frequencies. You don't necessarily need an ability like 'Transmission' to send and receive messages. That's already inside the item's design. Understand?"
Sal nodded without wiping the smile off his face.
"I totally understand. But it's surprising that you only passed the Advanced Coaching and Leadership course, Professor. Your example just now was excellent."
Upgrade's eyes went wide.
A warning flashed on Sal's visor that her threat level had suddenly skyrocketed.
Upgrade reached out to take off his visor, and Sal barely dodged her hand.
Upgrade's expression was a mix of disbelief and shock.
She glared at Sal across the table for a moment before finally calming down.
"Okay, so what else can you see? It seems like my academic records are there, but what else?"
Sal raised both hands defensively, took a step back, and grinned.
"I'll tell you everything. If you promise never to threaten me like this again."
Upgrade tilted her head.
"I don't make deals. Now, spill it. Because I want to know everything."
Sal hooked his right foot under the footrest of the chair, slowly pulled it to a distance where Upgrade's hand couldn't reach.
Then, deliberately making it obvious, he pushed it even further away before sitting down.
Sal gestured for her to sit, then realized he was already crossing the line.
Upgrade stood with her arms crossed, looking not amused at all.
"Uh... Professor Upgrade?"
Checking her expression, Sal sighed as if talking to himself, gauged her mood, and began to explain what he could see.
"Sorry, I'll tell you."
