Chapter 811 - 370: The King’s Choice (2)
The man gave a slight bow, removed the hood from his head, revealing an unremarkable face before the Redwood King.
The Wizard did not introduce himself, his gaze directly falling upon the Redwood King’s face,
"Your Majesty."
The Wizard’s voice was deep, "It seems your condition isn’t very good."
The Redwood King’s pupils slightly contracted, staring at the figure.
The bedchamber fell into silence.
"Felsan, mind your attitude towards His Majesty the King!"
The Guard Commander chided, then lowered his voice in reminder: "You may be arrogant with me, but not in front of His Majesty!"
However, unexpectedly, the Redwood King was not angry.
"Can you solve my predicament?" The king’s voice carried hesitation.
"I need to see the specifics."
The one called Felsan, the Wizard, said expressionlessly.
"Alright."
The Redwood King nodded without hesitation, "Lillard, you may leave."
"Your Majesty." The Guard Commander’s face showed a hint of panic.
"It’s alright, you can leave first."
The Redwood King waved his hand, "I trust this Wizard won’t be so foolish."
The Guard Commander was still worried.
After all, it was the Broken Rock Empire’s Emperor Agna who was killed by a Necromancer.
"Please rest assured, Commander."
Wizard Felsan said calmly: "I won’t do something as foolish as assassinate His Majesty."
He paused, "Because His Majesty’s condition doesn’t require anyone to assassinate him; he won’t survive much longer anyway."
"What nonsense are you spewing?"
The Guard Commander’s eyes flared with anger, his hand instantly gripping the hilt of his Longsword.
"Stop it."
The Redwood King sternly commanded, "Leave, that’s an order."
The Guard Commander glanced at Felsan, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Reluctantly, the Guard Commander had to bow and retreat, closing the door.
But he didn’t leave, instead stood silently waiting outside the door.
At the slightest hint of trouble, he would rush back in immediately.
Inside the bedchamber.
After the Guard Commander had left, Felsan took the initiative to step forward.
"Respected Your Majesty, please show me where your symptoms are appearing."
The Redwood King immediately rolled up his sleeve, showing it to Felsan.
"Just the arm, it looks manageable."
Felsan asked, "How long has it been?"
"Since I discovered it, it’s been thirteen days." The Redwood King replied.
"Good, it shouldn’t have spread to the heart and brain yet."
Felsan examined the decaying flesh, "There might still be hope."
"Do you trust me?"
Felsan asked, looking at the Redwood King.
"Like you said."
The Redwood King sighed slightly, "Even if I didn’t trust you, I probably wouldn’t survive long anyway."
Felsan nodded slightly, not making any more promises.
"Do you have bandages?" Felsan asked.
"Yes."
The Redwood King rose personally, fetched bandages from a cabinet, and placed them aside.
Felsan wasted no time, placing a small vial of potion and a packet of powder aside.
"Your Majesty, this may hurt a bit."
Felsan opened the bottle and stepped forward, looking at the Redwood King, "Please bear with it."
"Alright."
The Redwood King was himself a top-tier Knight.
For ordinary pain, he cared not a whit.
However, he underestimated the degree of this pain.
When the potion touched the wound, white smoke rose from his arm.
A penetrating pain that reached the marrow spread through his body in an instant.
The Redwood King gritted his teeth, sweat rolling from his forehead, his body starting to tremble.
The decayed flesh dissolved rapidly in the liquid until the fresh red tissue beneath was exposed.
Felsan quickly opened another packet, sprinkled the powder on it, and bandaged the wound.
"This time."
The Redwood King gasped for breath, looking at Felsan, "You’re not like other Wizards, just treating surface wounds, are you?"
"Will it rot again in a couple of days?"
Though the symptoms were alleviated, the Redwood King still felt worried.
"Sorry, Your Majesty."
Felsan said earnestly, "You’re right, I merely temporarily cleared the necromantic energy on the surface."
"Necromantic energy?"
The Redwood King was somewhat puzzled, asking, "Like the plagues in the west?"
"Perhaps the same, I don’t know for certain." Felsan slightly shook his head.
"This cleansing effect should last three to five days."
Felsan looked at him, "The necromantic energy has now deeply penetrated your body."
"A thorough purification in one go, and you would die from the pain."
"I need more time to treat you,"
Felsan paused, "We might even need to find other methods."
"I trust you, Wizard Felsan."
The Redwood King clenched his fist, "Whatever materials you need, I can provide."
"If you can truly heal me, I’ll make you the chief healer of the Redwood Kingdom."
"I simply hope your illness can be cured."
Felsan added with a smile, "And our agreed-upon payment, it has to be made after each treatment."
At this moment, Felsan seemed like a money-grubbing merchant.
But the Redwood King was more assured.
"That’s no problem."
The Redwood King nodded, "I’ll have someone send it to you immediately."
...
...
Seven days later, at noon.
The Redwood King sat idly at the long table in his study, staring at his wound.
Wizard Felsan indeed had skill.
In these seven days, he came twice, and the wound never festered again, even started scabbing.
Each time after treatment, the Redwood King felt invigorated.
The Redwood King felt a bit hopeful.
There was a premonition that this Wizard might truly be able to cure him, completely expelling that so-called necromantic energy from his body.
