Chapter 165. Fury Deceives the Government
In America, in a base hidden deep underground.
One-eyed Fury looked grim; he was currently locked in a small room.
The room contained only a chair, white walls, glaring lights, and a serious-looking white official behind specially made tempered glass.
Fury took a deep breath. He didn't understand why they were looking for him when there was a crisis, and why they were interrogating him like this. He now felt that Stark was right. When power reaches a certain point, it will naturally corrupt people's hearts, and even he himself was no exception.
"Mr. Fury, former commander of S.H.I.E.L.D., once one of the most outstanding agents."
The white official outside the window read it out word by word.
After he finished reading, he stared at Fury quietly for a long time without saying a word.
Fury, growing impatient under his gaze, finally spoke up, "What did you bring me here for? If you don't give me a satisfactory answer, I'll report you. I don't think you want to be purged by Stark of the Star of Light, do you?"
The white official shook his head. "Mr. Fury, this is one of the reasons we invited you here. What do you think are the possible reasons for the disappearance of the Star of Light?"
"You're asking me?" Fury's single eye was full of mockery. "I'm not Ultraman, why are you asking me?"
The white official wasn't angry. Instead, he explained, "You've had multiple contacts with that Lightbringer, and members of the Star of Light have also had some connection with you, including two former senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. We have reason to suspect your connection with the Star of Light."
"Pfft." Fury laughed when he heard this. "If I knew them well, I'd still be here. I'd have gone to the Star of Light long ago and come back to smash your head in."
At this point, a flush crept onto his dark skin. "I've done so much for America, and you just arrested me here without even asking a question? And you invited me? How dare you?"
The white official remained expressionless. "This is a necessary measure. We're unsure if the Star of Light is still on Earth. We must act quickly, or they'll discover our secret."
"A secret?" Fury chuckled. "Those so-called cyborgs? Genetically mutated humans? You're still not giving up on human experimentation, aren't you? Aren't you afraid Steve will come after you?"
"No!" the white official said confidently. "First of all, we don't have any internet access here, and we're only using death row inmates. There's no need to worry about these issues."
"Utterly ridiculous!" Fury said with a sneer. "Steve is a warrior of freedom. He defends human rights. Even if death row inmates ultimately face death, he will never allow you to do such inhumane things."
You must understand that desires are endless. Do you think you have enough death row inmates? You wouldn't be thinking of arresting normal people now, would you?
His single eye contained a penetrating light, as if he had seen through everything.
The white official was not intimidated by a few words and firmly said, "We will not do such a thing. You just need to make some predictions about the cause of the disappearance of the Star of Light, and then we will send Mr. Fury back."
"I told you, I don't know. Asking me is useless. I really don't know. After all, I've been fooled by Hydra for so many years, so I know even less about these things." Fury laughed self-deprecatingly.
"Then do you think it's possible they escaped?" the hundred-member official suddenly blurted out.
"..." Fury didn't know how to describe his current feelings. Ultraman had already created a planet, and he was running away? Was that reasonable? Were all the American governments these days such idiots? Did they speak without thinking?
He sighed, "Let someone else ask me. I feel like continuing to talk to you will affect my IQ."
A faint smile appeared on the white official's lifeless face. He took a stack of photos from where Fury couldn't see and handed them to Fury through a hole in the tempered glass.
Fury took the photo with a puzzled look and examined it carefully.
The photo wasn't exactly clear, but it wasn't blurry either; he could clearly see what was in it.
Those were several enormous warships, creations entirely different from current human civilization, and he was very familiar with these warships—they were Kree warships.
"Where did you take these photos?" Fury asked.
"In the solar system, these alien warships aren't far from Earth, but they seem to be wary of something, moving very slowly. And you should know something about the aliens on these warships from the files," the white official replied.
Fury frowned. "The Kree are no secret among the higher-ups, but they have no reason to come to Earth."
You have to understand that Carol is in the Kree empire, and they are old friends of hers. It's impossible for the Kree to come to Earth.
But not only did these fleets arrive, they didn't seem to be there for peace.
"In fact, we sent signals when the satellites took these photos, but unfortunately there was no response. This is an absolute disregard for Earth's civilization. You are an agent who has personally experienced the Kree people, and human civilization needs your help." The white official suddenly became excited, as if he were doing something great.
Fury gave the redneck official a dismissive look, a cold smile playing on his lips. So many wars on Earth had been fought because of them, and now they were here fighting for all of humanity? It was truly laughable.
Actually, he had another question: if the Kree fleet was wary of seeing something, how could the document have been captured by Earth's technology? Current Earth technology was definitely not capable of that.
The only possibility is that Stark on the Star of Light did something.
Fury quickly deduced the situation in his mind, and the more he deduced, the more reasonable it seemed. He was almost certain that this was Stark's doing, or rather, Ji Yuan's doing.
They must be fishing, not just the Kree big fish, but also some small fish hidden on Earth, or perhaps they're trying to expose some old bastards so they can be dealt with more easily.
He had a great idea to further fuel the fishing craze.
Fury feigned seriousness, his brow furrowed, and said earnestly, "I do know some secrets about this, secrets not in the files."
"Speak quickly." The white official was excited, a smile creeping onto his deadpan face.
"It's simple, just use Earth's most powerful weapons. Their warships can withstand explosions, but not radiation, and the Kree are extremely afraid of radiation." Fury immediately began his big lie.
"Are you telling the truth? Is there a unique code word that allows us to communicate peacefully?" The white official asked with some skepticism.
Fury chuckled speechlessly: "If peace were truly possible, they would have contacted Earth directly. Now they're coming with destruction."
The white official's face turned pale and then flushed as he quickly left the room.
Fury smiled knowingly, ready to watch the show.
