Chapter 122 Bat Clash
Chapter 122 Bat Clash
Batman's departure did not make Chen Haotian lower his guard. He stood on the warehouse roof, the night wind ruffling his hair, bringing with it the damp and rusty smell unique to Gotham. Nick Fury stood behind him, a wary glint in his single eye.
"He's much more perceptive than we expected," Nick Fury said in a low voice, a faint magical energy still gathering in his right hand. "In the exchange just now, he didn't seem to be using his full strength."
Chen Haotian nodded slightly, his gaze still following the direction Batman had disappeared in: "Of course, Gotham's Dark Knight never reveals all his cards in the first round. But neither do we."
Back in the basement, the debugging of the teleportation point was nearing completion. A complex energy node formed a stable vortex in the center of the room, emitting a soft blue light. Chen Haotian examined the data stream on the control panel, his brow furrowed slightly.
"The energy fluctuations are more dramatic than expected." He adjusted a few parameters. "It seems the energy difference between the two universes is greater than we thought."
Nick Fury walked over to him, sensing the flow of magical energy: "It's not just technological energy; the rules of magic also have subtle differences. In the Marvel Universe, my magic leans more towards practicality and directness; but here, magic seems more...wild."
Just as they were discussing this, the alarm system suddenly emitted a slight buzzing sound. Multiple surveillance cameras flashed simultaneously, indicating unusual activity outside the warehouse.
"It seems our friend is back," Chen Haotian smiled slightly, "and this time he brought help."
In the surveillance footage, besides Batman's familiar figure, several agile figures moved swiftly among the buildings surrounding the warehouse. One of them wore a red and green uniform and moved with superhuman agility; another was shrouded in a black cape and moved almost imperceptibly.
"Robin and Nightwing," Chen Haotian accurately identified them. "The entire Bat-Family has come out tonight."
A glint of fighting spirit flashed in Nick Fury's single eye: "Should we activate full defense?"
"No," Chen Haotian shook his head, "This is a good opportunity to test our new equipment. You go and prepare the magic barrier, I'll deal with them."
The words had barely left his mouth when the warehouse door was suddenly flung open by a tremendous force. Nightwing rushed in first, his short stick crackling with electricity.
"Good evening, gentlemen." Nightwing's voice carried a hint of mockery. "I heard you threw a party in Gotham but didn't invite us."
Chen Haotian calmly stood up: "It's not too late to invite him now."
Just then, Robin leaped down from the ceiling ventilation duct, his longsword aimed straight for Chen Haotian's throat. But the blade stopped abruptly a few centimeters from its target, as if it had struck an invisible wall.
"A magic barrier?" Robin took a step back in surprise.
Nick Fury emerged from the shadows, intricate magical runes flowing between his hands: "Young man, don't be too impulsive."
At the same time, Batman silently appeared at the basement entrance. His cape, illuminated by the energy vortex, appeared exceptionally imposing.
"Shut that device." Batman's voice was cold and resolute. "It's disrupting Gotham's energy field."
Chen Haotian turned to face Batman: "I regret to inform you that I cannot grant this request. This teleportation point is of paramount importance to us."
Suddenly, the entire basement began to shake. The energy vortex of the teleportation point suddenly became unstable, and dangerous red lightning began to flash within the blue light.
"What's going on?" Nick Fury immediately reinforced the magical barrier, trying to stabilize the energy fluctuations.
Chen Haotian quickly checked the control panel: "The energy difference between the two universes has caused a resonance imbalance. The frequency must be adjusted immediately!"
Batman keenly sensed the opportunity and swiftly threw several specially made electromagnetic pulse bombs. The bombs exploded upon contact with the magical barrier, and the resulting energy interference caused the barrier to fluctuate briefly.
Nightwing and Robin seized the opportunity and launched their attacks simultaneously. Nightwing's short stick, crackling with electricity, struck Nick Fury, while Robin charged at Chen Haotian once more.
This time, however, Chen Haotian didn't dodge. A small device suddenly appeared in his hand, and with a gentle press, the gravitational field of the entire basement instantly changed. Nightwing and Robin felt their bodies suddenly become heavy, and their movements involuntarily slowed down.
"A gravity controller?" Batman immediately recognized the technology. "This isn't Earth technology."
Chen Haotian smiled slightly: "You have good taste."
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Nick Fury completed an emergency adjustment to the teleportation point. The energy vortex gradually stabilized, and the red lightning slowly disappeared.
"We don't need to continue this fight." Chen Haotian deactivated the gravity controller, restoring the normal gravitational field. "As you can see, this device is stable. It poses no threat to Gotham."
Batman slowly took a few steps forward, his gaze beneath the mask sharp as a knife: "Who exactly are you? Where do you come from?"
Chen Haotian met Batman's gaze, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes: "We're just passing through, Batman. We'll leave once we've completed our mission."
Suddenly, the teleportation point emitted a bright light, and a figure emerged from it. It was Tony Stark, wearing the latest model of Iron Man armor, his visor open to reveal a smiling face.
"Looks like I've arrived just in time." Tony glanced around the basement. "Has the party already started?"
Batman and his companions immediately went on high alert. The sudden appearance of Iron Man made them realize that these outsiders' technological capabilities far exceeded their expectations.
"Another one has arrived," Nightwing said in a low voice, gripping the short stick in his hand even tighter.
Ignoring their tension, Tony walked straight to Chen Haotian's side: "How's the teleportation point test going? I detected abnormal energy fluctuations over there."
"It's been resolved," Chen Haotian replied. "It was just a minor conflict with the local residents."
Batman silently observed the newcomer, Tony. He was astonished by the technological level of the armor; its sleek design and powerful energy response were unmatched even by Wayne Enterprises' most advanced equipment.
"I think we should call it a night," Chen Haotian suddenly said. "We've demonstrated sufficient capabilities, and you've completed your reconnaissance. Continuing will not benefit either side."
Batman pondered for a moment before making his decision. He gestured, and Nightwing and Robin, though reluctant, began to retreat.
"Remember my words," Batman said before leaving, "If you pose any threat to Gotham, I will stop you at all costs."
With the Bat-Family gone, the basement returned to silence. Tony curiously examined the teleportation point: "So that's the legendary Batman of Gotham? More dramatic than I imagined."
Nick Fury removed the magical barrier: "His strength should not be underestimated. Moreover, the two young men he brought are also well-trained."
Chen Haotian sat back down at the control panel and began recording the data from the previous exchange: "This confrontation has given us valuable information. Batman's reaction, the characteristics of Gotham's energy, and the performance of the teleportation points in actual combat..."
Tony opened his visor, revealing a serious expression: "However, I think we might have attracted unnecessary attention. According to Jarvis's analysis, the energy fluctuations just now were enough to be detected by multiple organizations in this world."
"It's alright," Chen Haotian said calmly. "Sometimes, showing your strength appropriately can avoid more trouble. Now that Batman knows we're not to be trifled with, it might make him adopt a more cautious strategy."
Nick Fury walked to the window, gazing at the Gotham nightscape: "But I have a feeling this is just the beginning. Many more unknown dangers lurk in the darkness of Gotham."
Chen Haotian chuckled, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes: "That's more interesting, isn't it? A peaceful life isn't suitable for us transmigrators."
In the distant night sky, Batman stood atop the spire of Gotham Cathedral, gazing towards the warehouse through the telescope of his mask. Tonight's confrontation made him realize that these outsiders not only possessed advanced technology and mysterious magic, but more importantly, they seemed to have an extraordinary understanding of Gotham and of himself.
"Alfred," he said through the communicator, "activate the highest level of surveillance. I need to know their every move in Gotham."
"Understood, sir," the butler's voice came through. "However, I suggest you be careful as well. These people seem unusual."
Batman didn't answer, simply gazing silently at the distant warehouse. Throughout his career, he had faced countless dangerous adversaries, but this time, he felt an unprecedented unease. These outsiders brought not only technology and magic, but potentially a threat capable of altering the very fabric of Gotham, and even the world.
The night wind billowed his cloak, and the lights of Gotham flickered at his feet. In this city filled with sin and hope, yet another silent war quietly began.
