Caiden furrowed his handsome brow and, as soon as the call connected, got straight to the point: "Where’s Maeve?"

"What’s up?"

Before Louis could finish speaking, Caiden interrupted him, "Is Maeve okay?"

"..." Louis paused, "She’s fine."

Caiden’s worried heart finally calmed down. Hearing the silence on the other end, he asked again, "Where is that girl now? Is she with you?"

"No..."

"Shit!" Caiden swore under his breath, "Where is she? I’ll go pick her up now."

"Cloudy Capital, Cooper Manor." Louis replied bluntly.

Caiden hung up directly, took a step towards Koa, and greeted him: "I’m heading out."

"Alright." Koa was busy, didn’t say much to him, just nodded slightly before turning to speak with the doctor beside him.

Caiden found his car and headed straight to Cloudy Capital.

Louis had actually only brought Maeve back the day before yesterday.

With a sigh, his car sped along, and by three-something, Caiden arrived at Cloudy Capital.

"Maeve!" Caiden called out with a smile, striding towards her.

Maeve looked up and saw him, shouted "Uncle Ward," stopped chasing the Chancellor, and quickly ran towards him.

Caiden bent down and opened his arms, and she plunged into his embrace, snuggling like a puppy, showing affection, and looked up with a grin, "How did you know I was at Sister Mia’s?"

"You..."

"Did Uncle tell you, right?" Maeve interrupted him, "Are you here to take me home?"

"Did you miss me?" Caiden carried her while heading outside, smiling as he asked.

"Missed you to death." Maeve buried her head in his neck and gave a smack sound with a kiss.

Caiden let out a highly delighted laugh, feeling utterly relaxed, then looked up to see Mia waving at him from the sofa, and asked unexpectedly, "What happened to your foot?"

"It’s nothing, just twisted it, a bit painful, couldn’t come out to greet you." Mia curved her lips slightly.

"With a foot injury, you need proper rest."

Caiden sat sideways on the nearby long sofa, and Maeve curled up comfortably in his embrace.

Mia: "..."

After a while, amused and exasperated, she said, "Maeve, how old are you?"

"Six and a half." Maeve responded crisply without batting an eye.

"You’ll be in first grade after summer break."

"Yep."

"Soon you’ll be a little school student, why are you still needing to be carried around, Uncle Ward’s pants are getting dirty from you." Mia pouted at her, glancing at Caiden’s pressed black trousers.
